Welcome to the ULC Minister's Network

Aaron Rabin

So, what's in a name?

  • When I was filling out my profile I stumbled over thoughts about the title I should use, here is what it was like. . .

    I'm not a Pastor, a Priest , a Rabbi or Reverend, or am I, am I a Rabbi?

I didn't graduate from rabbinical school nor am I recognized as a perpetual student and teacher of the scriptures for the past 36 years outside of my circle of influence.

Maybe I shouldn't use a title, just leave my name as it is , Aaron Rabin, that's good enough?

    Then I took a breath...

I have known for a very long time now, however, I never realized the depth of the simplicity of it until the moment I tried to identify myself.

Then my thoughts started to pick up speed...

My last name comes from the Hebrew root word , rav. Rabin literally means rabbi/teacher.

    Then I thought...

Whether it is at the beginning or the end of my name, it is what it is and although I'm not Popeye or God, I am that I am, and so I put it at the beginning and where it always has been, at the end.

    And then I thought...

    So, what's in a name?
