Of late, I have been dealt a challenge by the Allmighty, namely, a crisis of faith. Not on my part, but, rather, on the part of my mother--who does not officially recognize my capacity as a priest of God. And while she is doubtful concerning my--ability, I suppose--she conducts herself with dignity, humility, and, additionally, respect regarding my ordainment (of which she strongly disapproves). This fact is not due, in her regard, to how she feels about our Lord; rather it is a facet of her upbringing. Back in 1937, the world was a very different place. Adolf Hitler was rising to power, Benito Musselini and Fransisco Franco were, as well, on the ascendent, and World War II was in the offing. December 7th kicked it all off, and, thus, the "Baby Boomers" came into being.
So, in an effort to bring this all into perspective, my mother is now 77 years old, which is certainly not unheard of in the current day and age. Her Kideys are failing, and she faces dialysis. She is not happy with this equation, and neither am I. My suggestion to her was to put her faith in God and scrrew the doctors.
My point here, is that there is nothing on earth that can't be overcome by faith. Faith is the essence of out being. Faith is what unites us with God, our families, and life.
