Many years ago, as a firefighter, I worked very closely with my squad. We would practice techniques that helped to save lives and ultimately would build trust with one another. It is only through mutual submission and collaboration, that we were able to attain something greater than we ever could alone.
Believers can experience a similar joy. Paul emphasized the importance of differences and gifts, describing us this way in 1 Corinthians 12:19-20: “If they were all one member, where would the body be? But now there are many members, but one body.” Yes, we are each uniquely designed. Yet in Christ, we discover our fullest, truest selves by working together as one, surrendering ourselves to each other in love.
Think about it. If you can describe the joy that comes with being part of Christ’s body, how would you share it with others? If you haven’t experienced it, how might you pursue it and collaborate with God to share His message? Ask yourself, to what specific task in the body are you called? Another words, “What gifts do I possess that I can impact the world around me?” How can you exercise your gift more fully at church, home, or work?
When we stop and think of the awesome relationship and responsibilities that we have with Almighty God, His church and our communities, we quickly realize, that trusting in Him and each other, creates a partnership of faith, that together, can produce a wonderful outcome.
