Daily Divination

  • Balan suggests for us to take repose and observe and listen to our environment instead of seeking to influence things al the time. What comes to mind for me is to admit when things are out of perspective of your control, and let things be. If someone disagrees with you, then let it be. Don’t force the topic and don’t force the situation to prove yourself right all the time, but respect the boundaries that you have your independent rights from others around you just the same as they.

    Strength of Balan is Moloch

Moloch tells us to beware of stern punishments and unyielding strictness. This is overall to lossen up. It is interesting to note that Moloch was a demon within the old testament that was chastized greatly by Israel early on. I believe that Israel bolstered themselves in competition with the surrounding polytheistic cultures by slandering their practices and way of faith. In the bible it tells us that people would sacrifice children to the fires of Moloch, and was a very severe sin in the eyes of God. The further description of Moloch is that the container the children were placed in was a large iron bull, and they would be placed inside and burned alive. It is interesting to note that the Greeks had an almost exactly alike process of punishing criminals, which is where I believe confusion gets in the way. Another demon to note in the old testament was Asherah, it was typical customs to offer incense and votive offerings to Asherah in pagan practices, which makes more sense to me that the pagans would not be as cruel and unusual as Israel would claim and have such simplistic things. Perhaps this whole endeavor is a good reason to watch out for the unyielding strictness, and maybe people need to take some of their own medicine about judging others.

    Wisdom of Balan is Azazel

Azazel reminds us of taking responsibility for our actions. Rather than scapegoating to other reasons about why someone does what they do, to take the positive aspect of direction, and be proactive. For example, instead of justifying yourself all the time that you can’t work for whatever reason, look for simplistic things that you can do around your residence to start the discipline of being responsible, and reflect on taking action instead of procrastinating.
