In desert sands where hunger gnaws,
The Savior stood with steadfast cause.
Not bread alone sustains the soul,
But words divine that make us whole.
The Tempter whispered, "Turn this stone,
To fill your need, to claim your own."
Yet Jesus spoke with gentle might,
"God’s voice is life, my guiding light."
Through trials deep, when shadows fall,
When earthly fare cannot recall,
The heart finds strength in sacred sound,
In every promise, grace unbound.
So let us feast on heaven’s bread,
By living words be richly fed.
For though the body craves its due,
God’s truth alone will see us through.
Oh, Christian soul, lift up your gaze,
Beyond the meal, beyond the days,
His Word endures, a holy flame,
Eternal life in Jesus’ name.
