Letters to the Faithful – Psalm 2:3

  • Berean Standard Bible

“Let us break Their chains and cast away Their cords.”

Grace and peace to you from the Sovereign Lord, who reigns over all creation, and from His Anointed, Jesus Christ, our eternal King. I write to you as one entrusted with the ministry of the Word, urging you to incline your hearts to the voice of God in these perilous times.

It has been written: "Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles" (Psalm 2:3). These words, though ancient, echo with haunting clarity in our present age. For do we not see the nations conspiring, the rulers plotting, and the peoples defying the counsel of the Most High? It is as though humanity, in its pride, cries out against the righteous order of God, seeking to cast off His life-giving authority as though it were a burden too great to bear.

But, beloved, let us consider the nature of these so-called "chains" and "shackles." Are they not the bonds of love and truth, forged by the Creator to guide us into the fullness of life? Are they not the precepts of justice, mercy, and humility, which anchor the soul and preserve the harmony of the earth? Those who rebel against the Lord see these bonds as chains, but in truth, they are the cords of grace that bind us to His everlasting covenant.

Why, then, does the heart of man revolt? It is because sin blinds the eyes and hardens the heart. It whispers deceitfully, promising freedom while leading to destruction. The world glorifies autonomy and self-rule, yet it is under the gentle yoke of Christ that true liberty is found. For He has said, "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" (Matthew 11:29).

To those who find themselves resisting the rule of God, I beseech you: turn and see the futility of rebellion. The One enthroned in heaven laughs, not out of malice, but because the schemes of the wicked are powerless against His sovereign will. His decree stands firm: "I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain" (Psalm 2:6). The reign of Christ is unshakable, and His kingdom shall have no end.

To the faithful, who feel the weight of the world's defiance, take heart! The opposition you witness is but a vain uprising against the unassailable purposes of God. Stand firm in your calling, proclaiming the gospel with boldness and love. For the nations, though they rage, are the inheritance of Christ, and every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that He is Lord.

And to all who read this, remember the closing exhortation of the psalm: "Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him" (Psalm 2:11-12). Let us not delay in surrendering our lives to His sovereign care, for His mercy is abundant, and His arms are open to receive all who seek Him.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God rest upon you. Be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain.
