Berean Standard Bible
who has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and power forever and ever! Amen.
To the beloved community of saints across every nation, tribe, and tongue, called together by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and united in the power of the Spirit:
May peace and unfailing joy be yours in abundance as we gather our hearts and minds around the truth of God's Word. Today, let us together reflect on the majestic declaration in Revelation 1:6, which proclaims: "He has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father—to Him be glory and power forever and ever! Amen."
What an extraordinary truth this is, dear friends! In this single verse, we encounter a glimpse of the magnificent calling bestowed upon those who belong to Christ. It is a calling that both humbles us and inspires us, that roots us in God's eternal purpose and empowers us to live lives of meaning and mission.
A Royal Identity: Citizens of His Kingdom
First, consider that He has made us a kingdom. Once we were scattered, estranged from God and from one another, wandering without hope or direction. But in Christ, we have been gathered together as a unified people under His sovereign reign. We are no longer subject to the fleeting and fragile kingdoms of this world; instead, we are members of an eternal kingdom, unshakable and filled with the promise of life everlasting.
This identity as citizens of God's kingdom is more than a title—it is a transformation. It reminds us that we are not defined by our earthly circumstances, whether riches or poverty, success or failure. Our worth is found in being claimed by the King of kings. Let us, therefore, live as those who belong to Him, embodying the values of His kingdom: righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. And let us always remember that the kingdom is not merely a future reality but a present one. Even now, we are participants in His rule, called to manifest His justice, mercy, and love in the world around us.
A Holy Calling: Priests in His Service
Second, He has made us priests. This truth is both astonishing and deeply meaningful. In times past, the role of the priest was reserved for a select few, chosen to mediate between God and humanity, to offer sacrifices, and to lead the people in worship. But in Christ, the veil has been torn, and all who believe are granted access to the throne of grace. We are now a priestly people, chosen to serve and glorify the living God.
What does this priesthood entail? It is, first and foremost, a life of worship. As priests, we are called to offer spiritual sacrifices, not of grain or animals, but of our very selves. Every word, every action, every thought can become an offering to God when it is done in faith and love. Moreover, we are called to intercede for others, bringing their needs before God in prayer, and to proclaim His truth, declaring His praises to the world. This priesthood is not a burden but a profound joy—a privilege to stand in the presence of God and to draw others nearer to Him.
A Purposeful Life: To Serve His God and Father
Finally, let us not overlook the purpose for which we have been made a kingdom and priests: to serve His God and Father. Service is at the heart of our identity and calling. It is not enough to claim the benefits of belonging to His kingdom and priesthood; we are called to live lives of active obedience and humble service, seeking always to glorify God in all we do.
This service takes many forms. It may be found in acts of kindness and generosity, in sharing the Gospel with those who have not heard, in standing for justice and truth, in nurturing and teaching the next generation, or in quietly and faithfully fulfilling the responsibilities of daily life. Whatever our specific callings may be, all our service is ultimately directed to God, who is worthy of all glory, honor, and power.
A Song of Praise: To Him Be Glory and Power Forever
As we reflect on this great truth, our hearts cannot help but be filled with praise. To Him who has called us, redeemed us, and made us His own—to Him be glory and power forever and ever! Our lives, our words, our worship are but a foretaste of the eternal praise that will resound in His presence. Even now, we join the chorus of heaven, proclaiming the majesty of our God and King.
Beloved, let this truth shape your life. Remember that you are part of an eternal kingdom and a holy priesthood, called to serve the living God. Do not be discouraged by the challenges of this world, for your identity and purpose are secure in Christ. Live boldly, love deeply, and serve faithfully, knowing that to Him belongs all glory and power forever.
May the God of all grace strengthen and sustain you in your calling. May His Spirit guide you, His Word inspire you, and His love compel you. And may your life be a testimony to the greatness of our King, until the day He returns and we see Him face to face.
