There are some books which cross denominational boundaries, time, and place, and may lead to expanding our ministry. Here are works which have been helpful in my continuing development as a minister:
Henri Nouwen et al. Compassion. This short work helps define the importance of practicing compassion in daily life as part of our spiritual walk. While written from a Western Christian perspective, this work is relevant for all ministers.
Henri Nouwen. The Wounded Healer. A classic on pastoral ministry that helps define the bounds and depths of ministering to others in times of crisis.
Martin Buber. I and Thou. This work offers a theology of existential relationship which was informed by many religions and places encounter with God in the place where souls encounter one another.
