Hello,
Not all Vikings who died during a battle had to go to Valhalla. Instead, some of them went to Folkvangr a meadow or field ruled over by the goddess Freyja.
What do you think of the idea of Valhalla and Folkvangr? How does it differ from, let's say, Christian afterlife?
I find the Norse afterlife beautiful.
I think it is perceived as less static and laid back.
I believe there is more variety it the Christian afterlife but less structure.
It would seem to Christian afterlife would be more along the lines of the last supper, or organized into cliques for example being able to see lost loved ones and meet like minded souls.
In some respects they are not much different.
But then does anyone really come back to tell of the afterlife?
Maybe the stories are merely metaphors
